The head witch sneers at me before turning around and saying "This isn't the end." as she walks off with the others. Ambrose turns and glances at me before saying "You've been mighty busy since the last time we spoke. Do you mind accompanying me to the club?"
I grit my teeth and say "Lead the way." When I turn back to look at Kian, I see that he's angry. Angry with me... I can sense it. What the h.e.l.l? I try to get him to look at me, but he refuses. I sigh and silently follow Ambrose back to his club.
Everything was still closed but this time it wasn't empty. Several Vampires guard the windows and doors as we basically walk into what looks like a vampire lair. I look around with a weary feeling but when I see Ambrose's back, I feel like I can trust the Vampire.
He walks us all the way to his office but as we pa.s.s the other vampires, they stare at Kian and I with distrustful looks. Once in the office, Frank shuts the door and guards it from the other side as Ambrose says "How did you go from the most hidden witch to the most hated witch in such a short time?"
I sigh, slightly relaxing for the first time as I say "I really don't know. This whole thing is a mess..." Ambrose watches me silently for a few moments before nodding and saying "Now that I stood with you, I will have every witch and s.h.i.+fter gunning for me and my vampires."
I cringe and lift a hand to say sorry but he cuts me off and says "Save it. I did it because I wanted to. You may have released the demon but I know you didn't because you wanted to. I know you better than that."
He touches a few keys on the computer and pulls up a video feed of the room with the strange wall. The cracks are larger... I step closer to the screen and say "What the h.e.l.l is happening? Does anyone else know about this?"
Ambrose leans against his desk and says "Only a few close vampires I trust. No one knows anything and I can't find any old text with this. I have no idea what's opening up in my club." I turn to find Kian sitting in one of the leather chairs, completely ignoring us as he glares at the floor.
I frown and turn to him as I ask "Kian? Are you okay?" Kian glances at me once before saying "I'm fine." Ambrose raises an eyebrow and says "I'll go get something to drink while you two... talk." He glances at me once more before walking out of the room and closing the door behind him. Leaving Kian and I alone in the office.
I step closer and ask "What's going on with you?" He finally looks up at me before standing up and asking "Why didn't you dodge?" I blink in confusion before it finally clicks. I try to think of the reason why but he steps closer and says "If I had not shown up when I did, the rock would have hit you in the face. Why didn't you try to move or block it!?"
I step back as I struggle to say "I don't know... I just... I was just... I don't know." He looks down at me and frowns with frustration and worry as he says "Never again." I blink again as I slowly nod my head but he shakes his head and says "Promise me."
I sigh and say "I promise. I won't do it again." He clenches his jaw as he says "Stay here with the Vampire. It's safe here, for now. I need to go find out how bad it is out there and if I can find out where Enzo is." I step forward to grab him but he pulls me into a hug instead and says "I'll be back"
I nod and whisper "Be careful..." He steps back and disappears, leaving me all alone in the office. Why didn't I move when the rock was coming straight at me? I run a hand through my hair and plop down in the chair Kian was just sitting on.
Everything Enzo said would happen, happened. They now all blame me and I can't find it in me to blame them for it. I lean my head back and stare up at the ceiling as I wonder what to do. Could I just pack my s.h.i.+t and leave? No one wants me here anyway.
h.e.l.l, everyone dying right now is my fault. My father and brother.... are they even still alive? If they are... will saving them actually work or would I just be making things worse again? What the h.e.l.l am I supposed to do!?
The door opens and in walks Ambrose with a bottle of alcohol and two cups. He takes one glance at me and says "You're demon told me he'd be back so I'm left with babysitting." He lifts the alcohol as he says "The perfect thing for when the world is ending."
I sigh and close my eyes as he says "Oh, please. I can't feel your self-pity leaking all the way over here. Don't think so highly of yourself. It takes way more than a halfbreed to end the whole world. I've seen many great cities and even a few kings fall, this is not truly the end." I slowly feel myself smile as I open my eyes and turn my head to look at him.
He pours the amber liquid into the gla.s.ses as I say "I had no idea you were such a great guy Ambrose." He scoffs and picks up the gla.s.ses while saying "You've really lost your d.a.m.n mind, haven't you?" He hands me the gla.s.s but when I look up to him and take it, I see a faint smirk pulling at his lips.
