Although there were very few signs of this unknown enemy's approach, she could feel it getting closer and closer. It was carefully stocking her, biding its time and looking for an opening. Mira remained motionless except for the arrow, its tip followed where ever it moved with scary accuracy.
Suddenly Mira heard a chuckle.
"It appears you have some skill… it's too bad it won't save you." The voice came from the thick foliage and it didn't sound human. The voice was deep and the owner spoke with a low growl. To her ears it was obviously b.e.s.t.i.a.l, like something out of the sci fi movie she used to watch. Her imagination conjured up all kinds of images about what was hiding not far from her. She forcefully quieted her over active imagination and refocused herself. It didn't matter it was, it had made itself clear just now. It was stocking her with the intention to kill her. This would be a fight for her life. She didn't respond, her life was far more important than a witty barb, and Mira had never been one to be over confident in her abilities. She always kept her master's words to heart. 'There was always someone stronger out there, who knew they would find you'. She lived by those words there for she also never underestimated others. Mira preferred to a.s.sumed all her enemies were stronger than her, that was how she prepared for every battle.
"So, you intend to die silent, do you? That's fine too." There was amus.e.m.e.nt in this supposed beast's tone. It appeared that it had decided that Mira was a source of entertainment and wanted to play with her, but was amused when she tried to end the game, it just chuckled.
Then something strange happened. One moment Mira could sense it perfectly fine then she couldn't, when she could again it was in a completely different location. Mira frowned instinctively pointing her arrow where it was now. It did it again and again and again, it really was playing with her. It was showing her that she only knew where it was because it allowed her too. It was saying that for all her skill it could kill her whenever it wanted too.
Mira's eyes narrowed. This thing didn't know who it was dealing with.... Mira closed eyes and inhaled slowly and then mumbled a few sentenced. When she opened her eyes, they'd changed completely from dark brown to something that was reminiscent of liquid molten gold. Her center remained as calm as a undisturbed pond, there wasn't a single influx in her emotions. She didn't mind being attacked, but she disliked being so clearly underestimated... however she wouldn't allow this to effect her in anyway. After all this thing had no idea who it was messing with, but she had ever intention of showing it. But she would show it with actions not words. in these types of situations this was the best way to deal with things.
With the bindings on her eyes removed her accuracy tripled its little trick no longer worked. The beast was instantly confused, but most importantly it was angered. Its prey had just turned the tables on it. The beast had wanted to play, but its prey had ended it's fun so abruptly… how dare a stupid meal do such a thing. It curled its lip in disgust, humans were always like this. They were so arrogant and never really understood there place until they were digesting in its belly. It growled low preparing to attack.
A barely perceivable grin of anticapation slowly appeared on Mira's pale pink lips. She was normally very sensitive to the emotions of others, when she was forced into battle mode like this she naturally became even more so. So of course she was aware of the changes in and surrounding her opponent. Whatever this thing was, it was most certainly sentient and had a wide arrange of emotions that it was going through just like a human… and right now the most prominent things it was feeling was rage. 'How immature' She thought, getting so angry just because she wasn't easily fooled. She knew it was too angry now to stay in the shadows for much longer, after all she could clearly feel its barely contained rage.
Thunder sounded in the background, there was a storm brewing, this meant that she needed to find or make a shelter soon. Being caught in the rain was undesirable and miserable. It had happened to her enough in the past that she actively tried to avoid it whenever possible. That meant that she needed to end this sooner rather than later. She had things to do now.
This didn't mean that she was in anyway underestimating her opponent, she merely planned ahead with the a.s.sumption that there would be a tomorrow. When you were consistently alone it was best to try to have a positive out look on things in general.
With that thought in mind Mira loosed her arrow aimed for exactly where she knew the beast was hiding.
