Chapter 641 - 637: Tracker
"Wait! Don't tell me you're talking about the Dark s.p.a.ce? That seems to be the only place that matches the description. Is that the case?" the G.o.ddess of Destiny asked, stunned.
"That's right. That's exactly the place I'm talking about. He should be there now!" The High G.o.d replied.
"But why? Why would he go there?" the G.o.ddess of Destiny asked, confused. "Did he go there so he could hide?"
"But that place is even more dangerous! Why would someone go to that place to hide?" The G.o.ddess of Water asked.
"Exactly! That place is known as the Graveyard of G.o.ds, as those who go there rarely return alive! That's a forbidden place!" The G.o.d of Flames agreed. "I mean, it would make sense if he went there to hide since we can't find him, but the risks outweigh the advantages!"
"Moreover, as we saw, he is strong enough to blow up the High G.o.d Palace so easily. Why would he go there to run away when he's strong? In any case, it's not as if we could find him easily even if he hadn't gone there? So I don't think he went there to hide!" he further added.
"Will you all shut up for a minute and listen to me?" The High G.o.d asked, frowning. "He didn't go there to hide. Instead, he went there to retrieve something!"
"Retrieve what?" The G.o.ddess of Destiny asked.
"He went there to retrieve his cursed sword!"
"The sword which you had taken after his death last time?" The G.o.ddess of Water inquired. "Why would it be in the Dark Realm?"
"It would be there because we tossed him there. It is a sword that originated in the Dark Realm! It was possessed by the Dark Realm aura. With the death of its owner, that aura wasn't in control, and it was leaking everywhere, luring Dark Beings to this place!" The High G.o.ds answered.
"So we sealed the sword and tossed it in the Dark Realm so it could never be found again. We didn't know that Chaos was going to return one day to retrieve it!" Another High G.o.d agreed.
"That's right. Now that we think about that, it's good that we tossed it away. If it were in the Palace, Chaos would have recovered it to get even stronger!" Third High G.o.d said, sighing.
"Ah, so what can we do at this point then? We can't go into the Dark Realm to find him. And even if we go there, I doubt we can locate him. That place is just so big!" The G.o.d of War let out. "Can we do anything other than just hoping for his death at the hands of the Dark Creatures?"
"We can certainly hope for that, but don't keep your hopes high. He is one of the rare few that had managed to return from that place alive even before when he returned with his sword. Everyone believed he would die there even then," the G.o.d of Fame said, sighing. "There's a good chance he'll return."
"And when he does, he will be even stronger than before," he continued, shaking his head.
The High G.o.ds frowned, nodding. They knew it was the truth.
"We might not be able to kill him until he returns, but we can certainly weaken him!" The G.o.ddess of Destiny said, clenching her fist.
"How?" the G.o.ddess of Water replied, laughing.
"By targeting his brother! I mean, the two brothers fooled us. Ja.n.u.s acted as if he wasn't fond of Chaos when he supported us in the G.o.dly War. But now we know that wasn't the case. So these two brothers are still close!" The G.o.ddess of Destiny said, smirking.
"You mean...?"
"That's right. I think we should catch Ja.n.u.s! We can use him to lure Chaos to us and maybe force Chaos to listen to us with Ja.n.u.s as our hostage!"
"That... That must work. I think we should give it a try. That's the best option at the moment," The G.o.d of War agreed. "Moreover, that b.a.s.t.a.r.d Ja.n.u.s is responsible for everything! I certainly want to get my hands on him!"
"High G.o.ds, are you going to support us in our search?" the G.o.ddess of Destiny asked the High G.o.ds, frowning.
"We can't," one of the High G.o.ds replied. "Instead, we need to go somewhere to handle things our way. You follow your plan; we'll do ours."
The High G.o.ds noticed the disappointment on the faces of orders.
One of them stepped forward, sighing. "But we would certainly help you in a different way."
He flicked his fingers, making a compa.s.s appear in his hands.
He tossed the golden compa.s.s toward the G.o.ddess of destiny.
"This compa.s.s has the aura of Ja.n.u.s. You can use it to find him. As long as he's not hiding inside his Domain, this can track him. It would help you," he exclaimed.
The compa.s.s was caught by the G.o.ddess of Destiny. "Thank you so much. This would be really useful in tracking that b.a.s.t.a.r.d!"
Giving the compa.s.s, the High G.o.ds disappeared together, going to somewhere unknown.
"I wonder where the High G.o.ds are going. Do they want to go to the Dark s.p.a.ce after Chaos?" The G.o.ddess of Water muttered, watching the High G.o.ds leave.
"I think they're going to him..." the G.o.ddess of Destiny replied.
"Him?" the G.o.ddess of Water asked, confused.
"The person who had killed the G.o.ddess of Reincarnation in her second life! He was the one who said that she would never be allowed to reincarnate again and her soul would be destroyed," The G.o.ddess of Destiny explained.
"Now that she returned, of course, he would as well," She added. "And who knows, if we're lucky, he might even come and take care of the G.o.ddess of Reincarnation and the person who brought her to life. We might not even need to do something."
"I hope that's the case. It would be perfect!" the G.o.ddess of Water said as a glint of hope flashed in her eyes.
"Now enough wasting time. Let's go and catch that traitor so we could show him the consequences of playing with us," the G.o.ddess of Destiny said, glancing at the compa.s.s which was pointing towards a certain direction.
It was as if it was getting a signal of Ja.n.u.s already.
...
Unaware of the troubles that were advancing towards him, Ja.n.u.s was comfortably sitting in the Palace of the G.o.ddess of Life and Death.
Since he couldn't go to his own palace, he came to the G.o.ddess of Life and Death to take her help in locating Ryder so he could see what was happening with the little guy and why he couldn't feel him.
