I walked into the room only to be greeted by silence. She was still asleep, this sucks.
I slowly trekked in to see Levi on one side of her and Week asleep on the other, his body draped over the bed and holding her waist tightly as if when he let go, she would disappear again.
"Angel?" I heard and looked up at Levi who was holding onto Rosie's free hand.
"I'm here, Levi," I responded and sat at the edge of her bed.
"How long?"
"How long for what, Levi?"
"How long were you gonna hide what you and Rose are?" he spat and I flinched back at the tone of his voice.
"As long as forever was. I never wanted her to be victim in this life."
"So in order to do that, you hid yourself and her?"
"Yes," my response was almost immediate, and I felt as if my heart was being ripped apart as I watched Week with her. He looked so broken, and she was fragile, I could see it in the light slowly fading from her skin. Her angel side was weakening, pus.h.i.+ng away from the front of her mind.
"Why?" Levi asked, turning his gaze back to the fragile girl laying on the bed. I could almost recognize her again. Her hair was lightening into a blonde color that seemed to suit her.
"I ran away from here, Levi. I ran once I learned what he was doing to us."
"What who was doing to you?"
"What Michael was doing."
Silence enveloped the room and I looked back at Rose who was laid on her bed. Her normally glowing skin was fading to almost a white ghost color as the parts of her battled for the main point. It made me feel sick inside as I all I could do was watch her slowly fade away.
"Why didn't you just tell us?"
"If I had told you and Rose realized who she was, she would have been taken so much sooner than she had, and now she would be married off to some archangel son b.a.s.t.a.r.d who would abuse her just because he could."
"Just like Lizzie did?" He asked, and I flinched again at the tone of his voice.
"Worse than Lizzie did. What hurts is the fact she didn't tell anyone what Lizzie did to her, and we didn't find out until she went missing. The dreams I was having, Levi, they were me seeing through her eyes what was happening," I said and laid down on the bed next to her, placing my head on one of her thighs as I let my eyes shut softly as I listened for her breathing.
"He ripped her in half, didn't he?" All I could do was nod as I felt the tears start forming.
"Now Rose the demon and Rosalina the angel are at war with each other because they feel only one can remain."
"Who would win?"
I opened my eyes and looked into Levi's eyes then, noticing his eyes dulling out again.
"Neither, they would only end up destroying each other."
The silence returned than and I welcomed its warm embrace as I cried for my sister who never got to realize on her own that she was my sister and that she was the rightful ruler to Asladon, where our mother used to rule before she gave up that life to protect Rose.
When our mom had given birth to Rose, she didn't realize that there was two of us, and she gave up her fight too soon, only for Father to realize I was still in her womb and take me to this dreadful place that was believed to be beautiful and safe. Only, it wasn't, it was prison.
And there was no way back out once you were in.
I heard a groan and watched as Week sat up. His red eyes traced over Rose's figure before clouding over and turning silver, the eyes of Rose's demon half. His eyes found mine and he gave me a light smile as if thanking me for letting him stay here with her.
"She remembered me," I heard Levi say and I sat up and stared at him.
"What?" I asked, and I could practically hear the surprise and fear in my own voice.
"Before she became like this, she remembered who I was." I watched him looked up at Rose with a light smile on his face and I could feel the hurt and anger rolling of Week in waves.
"How did she remember you first?" Week asked, looking up at Levi, hiding his look of hate under his eyes, but I saw it for what it really was.
It was jealousy.
"I don't know, I found her in her garden, and I don't think she realized it, but she was crying," he started, pulling Rosie's hand to his forehead and shutting his eyes.
"What happened after that, Levi? Did you say anything to her or do something that could have triggered this?" I asked, walking to his side.
"I ran to her and hugged her, like I used to when I was trying to comfort her, and whispered about missing her and how I didn't want her to leave again, then," he paused and look over at Week, who was eager to hear more of how he had gotten Rose to remember something.
"Then?" Week said, grabbing Rosie's freehand hand giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Then she said my name, Week. She said it before she went limp in my arms," Levi said, and I noticed the tears starting to run down his pale cheeks.
"That's it," I said, making both boys turn to me and look with wonder in their eyes. "Levi, you used to be her comfort, so when you gave her comfort she remembered you."
"Okay?" Levi said and he continued to stare at me as I connected dots in my head.
"She was trying to remember me before, guys. She couldn't figure out what was flas.h.i.+ng, but they were her memories. Somehow, we're the ones who can get her memory to release," I said and noticed that Week had his hands on my shoulders and was looking at me.
"Angel, you're a genius," he said and I smiled the first real smile I'd had since getting here.
"Meaning, if we can recreate the feelings that we made her feel..."
"...then she can hold onto her memories of us!" Week finished for me and we looked over to a stunned Levi.
"Are you saying, we can get our Rose back?" Levi asked, standing up and walking towards us.
"I am, and I think we need to tell Kai what we learned."
