Standing downstairs of Gu Yan’s previous studio, Jiang Jingcheng thought of the words his father said. The pictures of Chen Qian and Gu Yan flashed through his mind.

He thought of Chen Qian’s tearful face when she was imploring, Gu Yan’s faint smile, and Chen Qian’s madness of persuading him to be a spy as well as Gu Yan’s unconditional trust to him.

Every scene was playing back and flashed quickly in his mind. At last, two pictures were frozen in his mind. One was that Chen Qian looked fierce, and the other was that Gu Yan sat at the office table dejectedly.

Jiang Jingcheng stared tightly at the floor where Gu Yan’s studio was. However, there was n.o.body there and the busy and energetic work atmosphere of the past had disappeared.

“President Gu, I’m sorry!”

Jiang Jingcheng turned and left, but his painful and guilty voice was lingering over there.

As a new comer, she still had a lot of things to learn, so she had to work hard day and night. Only in the stillness of the night, she would think of those days she spent in Gu Yan’s studio. It all felt like a dream to her. In the meanwhile, she hated Jiang Jingcheng’s guts.

On this day, she got off work and was about to head home. The moment when she just stepped out of the door, a nightmarish voice came to her ears.

“Liu!”

a.s.sistant Liu was very shocked and turned her head slowly. She saw the man standing on the side of the road. The man’s appearance had changed a lot. He was more decadent. However, she could recognize him at the first sight even if he turned into bones.

She calmed down and said ironically and disgustedly, “Our studio’s genius! Here you are! You’re still alive. What do you want? You destroyed our studio and disappeared then and now you just show up like this. What? Do you want me to award you some pennies?”

Looking at her, Jiang Jingcheng was full of sorrow and guilt. In the past, she was always complaisant to him. Now she said those malicious words like that, which showed that she had hated his guts already.

He didn’t say a word because he didn’t know what to say except making an apology. However, compared to her sufferings, his apology was feeble and futile.

His silence didn’t allay her anger. She was more resentful. She came close to him, suppressed the urge to slap him, and said, “Jiang Jingcheng, tell me why did you do that? Did President Gu, I or the studio let you down? Tell me why. Why did you do that?”

Jiang Jingcheng closed his eyes painfully and then said, “Sorry. I don’t know how to explain it, but I will give you a detailed explanation then. I’m here to ask you a favor!”

Staring at him, she didn’t know why she just believed his words subconsciously. She asked, “What can I do?”

Jiang Jingcheng looked at her in surprise. Actually he didn’t hold a glimmer of hope at all, but because he didn’t want to give up, he came to her. He never thought she would listen to him. At this moment, he thought perhaps she would forgive him and give him a second chance.

His eyes were full of gladness and he couldn’t wait to say, “Liu, could you tell me where President Gu is. I have something important to tell her. I…”
