Chapter 152 - Buying The Storefront (3)
Calculating using the lowest rent at 800 yuan a month. 2,200 – 800 was 1,400. But 800 was just the cost for this year. It might go up again next year. As far as Shu Yan knew, the rent here has gone up every year. In 3-5 years’ time, the rent just might be able to cover the mortgage and then some.
“Boss Lady, what are you so happy about?” Zhang Huaxiu couldn't help but asked after seeing how Shu Yan was humming softly with a look of happiness.
“Oh, nothing.” Shu Yan had not shared with anyone else that she had bought a storefront other than Lao Hu.
How could she not be happy? In her original world, she was 30 years old and had always wanted to buy her own place and settle down. But by then, house prices were already astronomical. The most remotely located ones still cost tens of thousands per square meter. With her income, she wouldn’t be able to buy much even if she stopped eating and drinking for an entire year.
Now she not only owned a house, she also owned a storefront in the golden district. This had greatly rea.s.sured Shu Yan, who had been feeling anxious. It gave her… a sort of rea.s.surance. From now on, no matter how good or bad business was, she and her children wouldn’t starve. Or she should say that they would be able to live a cozy life.
Good news came one after another, Shu Yan’s new house has finally finished with its renovation. She had specifically asked Chen Fei to do a walkthrough for her. Once he confirmed that everything looked good, Shu Yan signed off with alacrity and made the final payment.
“Good timing. Your customer furniture is about done as well. I’ll have someone bring them over. They can be aired out with the house.” Chen Fei liked this house a lot. “How much did you pay per square meter for this place?”
“$4,000. What’s up? You want to buy here as well?” Shu Yan looked at him nosily.
“I do like it here a lot.” After a short pause, Chen Fei said softly, “Boss Lady, can you help me ask Xiuxiu how she likes it here?”
Shu Yan busted out laughing. “Aye! You two are already at the point of buying a place?”
“No, no, no.” Chen Fei shook his head quickly. “I… I just like the layout of this house a lot. Most importantly, it’s close to Xiuxiu’s place. I… I haven’t told Xiuxiu that I like her yet. I don’t know how she feels.”
Chen Fei was so nervous that he was rambling.
Shu Yan covered up her mouth and smiled. “Then quickly go tell her that you like her. It’s not easy to meet a nice girl these days. You are single; she is single. And you are both at the right age. It’s natural to talk about marriage. You don’t want to regret about after a missed opportunity.”
After she had saw Chen Fei off, Shu Yan walked around the house slowly. They would be able to move in toward the end of the year. This would be her first house in this world. This was so nice.
The next day, Shu Yan asked Zhang Huaxiu whether she liked Nanfu Mansion or not. Zhang Huaxiu was stunned a little bit and said, “Nanfu Mansion? Of course I do. My sister-in-law had looked at the houses there a few times now, but they were too pricey for us to afford.”
“Someone asked me to ask you.” Noticing the sudden shyness on Zhang Huaxiu, Shu Yan sighed. Both of them were interested in each other and all they needed to do was to take the first step. They were in no rush but Shu Yan, as the bystander, was anxious. “Well, what are you thoughts? If you think he’s halfway decent, then let him know. Have lunch or dinner tonight. Spend some time with each other. If you still feel that he’s okay after getting to know him better, then let you family know and get things settled down.”
“Boss, what do you think of him?” asked Zhang Huaxiu, troubled.
“It doesn’t matter that I think he’s a good boy. You need to like him. So, what are your thoughts?” asked Shu Yan.
“My parents have to be okay with it,” said Zhang Huaxiu with her head lowered, blus.h.i.+ng.
In other words, she was very happy with Chen Fei!
“We can talk about it privately. From what I have heard, Chen Fei is not close with his father and hasn’t been home for years. So he’d probably be just like a normal relative in the future. Plus, he is willing to buy a house near your home. That’s rare. Nanfu Mansion is so close to your home that they are practically in one small distract. It’ll be easy for you go home in the future. Some people might feel that there will be a lot of stress without the help of their in-laws but, if you ask me, there are benefits with not having in-laws as well.”
Shu Yan had never been married before but the original owner had. In her memory, the original owner’s mother-in-law was a very difficult person. She always felt that original owner should be obedient because she was the wife that they bought. One way or another, the original owner wasn’t allowed to not listen to her. Things got even worse after she gave birth to a daughter. She wouldn’t even let original owner had the traditional first month of rest after one had given birth. Her att.i.tude was better after the birth of Tianbao. But, if you ask Shu Yan, she’d rather not have a mother-in-law liked that.
