Chapter 275 - Talking to him really wears Shu Yan out. (2)
“It’s fine. It’s not the first time. Happens quite often. JingJing, Tianbao, come over to your G.o.dmother quickly. I have prepared many types of cakes for you two. Hurry up and start on them.” Hu Ruixue quickly had someone brought out the cakes that she had prepared. There were at least over 10 different types.
“Don’t feed them so much sweets. JingJing is about to have her permanent teeth. I am going to blame you if she has cavities.” Shu Yan freely helped herself to one. It was sweet but not overly greasy and melted right in her mouth. Very delicious.
“It’s fine. Your G.o.dmother is rich. If that happens, I will take you overseas for get new porcelain ones,” said Hu Ruixue jokingly.
“How are they going to be better than her own ones? Don’t eat too much, JingJing. Tianbao, you too. Don’t cry to me when your teeth hurt.” Shu Yan put the cakes away. Tianbao already had some cavities at his young age and JingJing’s teeth weren’t great either. As such, Shu Yan didn’t allow them to have too much sweets.
“Alright. Alright. Fine. What would you like to have for lunch? We will let the Aunty know and she can make it for you.” Hu Ruixue wasn’t serious about the kids having as much as they want.
“Oh, when you invited me over, I thought you are going to personally cook for us.“ Shu Yan teased.
“Sure, I can cook if you are not afraid of food poisoning.” Hu Ruixue, too, joked around with her.
“You hadn’t gotten much sleep last night. Why don’t you go take a nap while I go and make some sweet soup? That way Duoduo will be able to have some when she wakes up.” She would also get the preparation done on a couple other ones of her familiar dishes.
“Okay, I will thank Duoduo’s G.o.dmother for her then. I am so sleepy. Let me go take a quick nap. Just feel at home here. Oh yeah, there’s a little gaming room over there. You can take the kids over there.” Hu Ruixue yawned as she walked into her own room. With her relations.h.i.+p with Shu Yan, she didn’t have too much to worry about.
She called it a little gaming room but it was quite s.p.a.cious. It had a slide, a sandbox, swing set, and a seesaw, etc. Shu Yan had the two of them kept themselves company in there and went over to make the soup in the kitchen.
Shu Yan heard some noises from the outside, turned her head and looked up. She saw Hu Ruiyang walked inside with two bottles of red wine.
Shu Yan had never said it out loud but she trusted that Hu Ruixue already noticed her dislike toward Hu Ruiyang. She doubted that Hu Ruixue would invite Hu Ruiyang when she was having her over.
“Where’s Xiao Xue?” Hu Ruiyang really had no idea that Shu Yan was over. He was quite surprised when he saw her busying herself in the kitchen.
“Duoduo fussed all night long and kept her up all night. She went to take a nap.” Noticing that Hu Ruiyang was looking at the scoop in her hand, she smiled and said, “Duoduo likes the sweet soup that I make so I am making some for her.”
Hu Ruiyang put the red wines down and asked, “Can I help with anything?”
“No, I am fine.” Shu Yan thought to herself that a young master liked him had probably never been in the kitchen before. She’d be lucky if he wasn’t making more of a mess.
That being said, he really took off his jacket, rolled his sleeves up, and started picking the vegetables. He truly looked like he knew what he was doing. Much better than Hu Ruixue, at the very minimum.
“You know how to cook?”
Hu Ruiyang smiled at her when he heard that. “Do you a.s.sume that people like us have no idea how to do regular ch.o.r.es?”
“More or less.” Shu Yan nodded.
“Then you are right. I know many who can cook. I lived alone when I was going to college and would cook for myself from time to time. I won’t call myself a good cook but what I make is at least edible.”
“Mmm, very nice,” said Shu Yan without too much sincerity.
Hu Ruiyang raised his brows. “You don’t like me?”
