Chapter 286 - “I have never seen someone as stupid as you.” (2)
Shu Yan leaned more toward asking the government for the land and building the factory themselves. But that would for sure cost more.
“Can we have someone stand in for the time being?” asked Shu Yan as she tapped lightly on the table with her index finger.
Boss Yu was a little disappointed. It would seem like that the headquarter had no intention to build an extra factory here. “I have already looked up a few factories that can help us out. If you like, you can send someone from the headquarter to check them out.”
Shu Yan smiled at him and asked, “How’s the girl that is under Manger w.a.n.g?”
“You mean Yingying? She is doing very well here and had already been promoted to team lead a while back.” Yingying had left a lasting impression with Boss Yu.
“You don’t need to give her special treatment because of me. Just put her in the role that she can handle.” Shu Yan thought Boss Yu only promoted Yingying for her sake.
“Oh no, she earned that for herself fair and square. I only found that out after her promotion. The shop manager there had no idea that we know her,” replied Boss Yu with a smile.
That was surprising. Yingying had only been here for a few months and was already promoted to team lead.
It wasn’t easy being the team lead. The shop at City Yang was 200 square meters in size and had 10 employees, not including the shop manager, split into two teams of five. They would take on the night and day s.h.i.+fts and rotate every two weeks. In addition, the sales result of the two teams would be compared and the winning team would receive a bonus every month. The team lead would receive commission based on the sales of the entire team so she must be the best salesperson in the team. The others would not otherwise be okay with that.
Yingying’s sales had consistently been lower than Zhang Huaxiu’s back at her shop. As such, Shu Yan was quite surprised that she had become the team lead in just a few months.
It was a bit awkward over dinner that night at the beginning. The atmosphere was much more relaxed after the first round. If Shu Yan was a man, many employees would probably be toasting her by now. Shu Yan said that she couldn’t hold alcohol after the first round and none of the male employees dare to make her drink. Even with straight dining, the atmosphere wasn’t bad. Mainly the few managers at the branch office were all articulate people.
When dinner was almost done, Shu Yan had her a.s.sistant came over. There was a karaoke place nearby. If the employees wished to go, they could expense that.
Most of the employees were young people and, when they found out that their boss would be treating them to karaoke, they left excitedly immediately.
“Aren’t you going to go?” Shu Yan tilted her head and asked Boss Yu.
“I am tone deaf. No need to go torture the others,” said Boss Yu as he waved.
Mainly because the people under them wouldn’t have as much fun if their managers were there as well. Might as well let them have fun if they were going.
Shu Yan returned to the hotel with the others who opted out of karaoke after chatting with Boss Yu some. She wasn’t the kind who could only sleep in her own bed. After the plane and car ride, she was quite tired and fell asleep the minute her head hit the pillow. She slept all the way to the morning.
Boss Yu, along with a few others, were already waiting for her at the lobby. They were to take her to the best breakfast place in City Yang.
“It is very good.” And she meant it. Shu Yan had always known that City Yang had a lot of good food but she had never had the chance to visit. The place that they went the night before was just alright. She was pleasantly surprised by breakfast this morning.
“This place requires reservation. I had someone buy the tickets in advance, knowing that you will be here,” said Boss Yu as he pushed a plate of food that Shu Yan had a couple of pieces from in front of her.
He was truly a salesperson, with his articulation and observation.
After the meeting in the office in the morning, Shu Yan turned down Boss Yu’s lunch invitation and went over to the direct-sale shop in City Yang and also to visit Yingying at the same time.
“Big sister, how come you are here?” Yingying was so emotional when she saw Shu Yan that even her voice sounded different and her eyes reddened.
“I came to visit the branch office and thought I’d swing by to check you out. How are you liking life here?” Her reaction made Shu Yan sad.
She wasn’t that old and really was still college age but she was forced by her parents to leave her hometown and start her life out in a foreign place. Shu Yan could relate to that.
“It takes some getting used to at first but it’s much better now,” said Yingying as she wiped her eyes some. Then, smiling, she said, “How long are you going to stay here for, Big Sister? Let me take you to have some good food?”
“I am leaving this afternoon. You can take me the next time that I am here.” Shu Yan glanced over at her nametag and said, “Oh, mi! You are team lead now?”
Yingying was very proud when it came to this. “Yeah. I have been the top salesperson three months in a row so the shop manager made me team lead. I didn’t make you look bad, right, Big Sister?”
“You are doing great. Keep up with the good work and become shop manager soon. Come to me and franchise when you saved up enough money. Don’t forget that you are going to franchise my chain,” said Shu Yan as she patted her on her shoulder.
“I’ll work hard toward that.” Yingying paused for a little, then asked cautiously, “Big Sister, my parents… didn’t go and cause you trouble, did they?”
