Lu Zhaoyang did not back down. “The company has been signing on many new projects recently. You and your staff will be re-a.s.signed to them.”

“I disagree!”

An overweight middle-aged man slammed one hand on the meeting table and said, “Mr President, you can’t do this to us just because you have no history with the company!”

“He’s right. You are new to the company too, Mr President, like a.s.sistant Lu here. You won’t understand the attachment we have for our products. If you suddenly stop making them, the staff will be outraged!”

They continued talking as Lu Zhaoyang considered what the man said. She turned to look at Xiang Jinxi, who remained neutral and quiet.

What did they mean that Xiang Jinxi had come out of nowhere? Was he not the company’s founder?

Xiang Jinxi noticed Lu Zhaoyang’s inquiring look. This was something he had been trying to avoid and the reason he was rarely in the office.

Abruptly, he stood up and took a sweeping glance at the managers.

He did not seem to hear their pleading. “Cease production for the old products. It’s decided.”

Then, he left.

The managers were outraged.

“Did he just leave like that?”

“There wasn’t even room for discussion. Then what’s the point of this meeting?!”

After Xiang Jinxi left, the managers looked to Lu Zhaoyang for help.

“a.s.sistant Lu, please talk to the president. He can’t do this. It will raise internal havoc!”

“Since the president has already decided, we will follow his wishes. I have listed down the general procedure and expected timeline for execution. Please have a look at them and let me know if you have questions.”

She explained calmly and then left the meeting room.

It was her belief that the company must move forward and change its ways.

Lu Zhaoyang also found herself curious about Xiang Jinxi’s background. Why would he buy Ge Yu and became its president in name even though he did not seem interested in the company?

She went to the president’s office to get some answers, but he was no longer there.

This president… is a little weird.

For the rest of the day, Lu Zhaoyang received phone call after phone call. She barely had time to hydrate herself.

When it was finally time to leave work, she was exhausted.

However, she received a call from Huo Yunting right then. He was waiting outside her office.

Huo Yunting said nothing when she stepped inside the car. He simply started the engine and stepped hard on the accelerator.

Lu Zhaoyang noticed something was off. She turned to him and asked, “This is not the way to my place. Where are we going?”

“Rong City.”

“Why there?” Lu Zhaoyang frowned. She was tired and did not have time for his antics.

“You avoided me on purpose by switching your phone off. I’m just trying to teach you a lesson. Don’t tell me you are busy again. Since you’re really busy, I will take you far away and make sure that you will be even busier when you get back. That will teach you how to behave next time.”

Had he not sent someone to follow her around, he would have thought that something had happened to her when he could not reach her.

“I don’t want to go.” Lu Zhaoyang protested meekly. “A return trip will take too long. I’m not going to tire myself out. Just go enjoy yourself and let me go home and rest, please?”

Huo Yunting was about to retort when something in the rear mirror caught his attention. He narrowed his eyes. All the laziness in him evaporated instantly.
