"M-Mayaaa…"
Both women stopped speaking and turned in the direction of Ronnie…
Ronnie's eyes were half-open. His lips slightly apart as he opened his mouth to speak.
"Maya…" Ronnie said once again slightly raising his arms up…
Jayne didn't know how to react. 'Maya?' She didn't know what she should be doing.. Hence, she stood there in a daze, rooted to her spot..
Ignoring the fact that he was calling some other woman's name, Jayne snapped back to her senses with a jolt..Her husband had indeed got back his conscious. This was exactly the moment she was desperately waiting for since when she heard of his injury. She collapsed to the floor with relief and happiness.
Sona Bhat's joy knew no bounds. Happiness overflowed her entire being and she wept with joy on hearing her son-in-law call her daughter's name first thing when he woke up..
She picked up her daughter and asked her to go talk to him.
Ronnie could sense the joy and relief in their eyes. He once again called out, "Wifey…"
Jayne didn't want to hear anything anymore. She wiped her tears with the end of her sleeves. She didn't wait a second longer. She jumped up to her feet and dashed towards his bed, took his hand in hers.
"Hubby! You're finally awake?" Jayne stuttered.
This was the most heartwarming moment of her life.
Sona Bhat saw the couple from afar. Her lips curved upward in between tears. She left the couple and came over to inform the rest of them of the good news…
"Wifey, I'm so happy to see you…" Ronnie said very slowly, his voice was hoa.r.s.e and weak since he had been sleeping.
He woke up with the memories of his life with his wife.. right from their stay in the tribal forest.
Later, coming back to London...
The day he had proposed to her and when she said "Yes!" not just in front of him but also to the world on the day of their marriage to become his wife….
With this, Ronnie's dream came to an end and he woke up to see his wife standing right before him. Even he himself didn't realise that he'd called her Maya. For some reason he later called out wifey again when she came running to him like a child and his heart swelled with happiness.
Jayne's tears burst forth her eyes like water flow from a dam, willing down like pearl drops down her cheeks.
Ronnie realised how much he'd worried her. "I'm so sorry to have worried you all this while wifey…"
"Shh! I'm grateful that you've woken up safe. The doctor said you would be under observation for twenty four to forty eight hours. I very well knew you'd wake up well before that Ron." Jayne said in between sobs.
"Of course! How wouldn't I wake up? I've promised you a lifetime of togetherness honey…" Ronnie said word for word.
Jayne felt so overwhelmed. She suddenly remembered, "Ron, wait drink some water.." She took a gla.s.s of water from the bedside table and fed him.
Ronnie could see the psychological stress she'd undergone all this while when he was unconscious. She looked so weak and fragile. Ronnie's heart ached to have worried his wife to these levels.
She once again held his hands and sat by him on the chair next to his bed. She was supposed to inform Dr Scott after Ronnie woke up. Even the duty nurse had gone out. So, she had no option but to go out and inform the doctor. But then, Jayne didn't want to leave him even for a second.
Since Sona Bhat knew about it, she directly rushed to Dr Scott's cabin and informed him.
Dr Scott came in.
"h.e.l.lo Mr Ronnie Roy! I'm you attending doctor, also the lead surgeon of your operation, Dr William Scott. How are you doing?" Dr Scott flashed a warm, encouraging smile.
Jayne was still holding Ronnie's hands.
"h.e.l.lo Dr Scott! I'm actually doing great. With my loving wife by my side, is there anything more I can ask for?" Ronnie smiled at his wife and back at Dr Scott.
"Oh yeah Mr Roy! It's only because of her love that you are fine. In fact we'd given up. It's only because your wife we did it all…" Dr Scott too sang praises for Jayne.
Ronnie wasn't aware of Jayne's blood transfused into his body. He just smiled because he knew only her love could get him back even from the gates of h.e.l.l.
Jayne spoke, "Doctor it's nothing me. Your team and you worked hard for this. Thank you so much doctor. I know thanks is too less a word…"
Dr Scott looked at Jayne, "Oh Mrs Ronnie, it's our duty as doctors. Along with our efforts, your cooperation mattered. Anyway it's all over now..there's nothing to worry now. Your husband is totally out of danger. We'll continue administering him the medicines."
Jayne felt like the dark overcast had pa.s.sed through and finally there was light again…
Jayne replied, "Thank you again doctor!" She was too overwhelmed to speak…
"And Mrs Roy, you need to take care of yourself now. You haven't eaten anything, plus your blood donation will make you weaker if you don't eat. So please eat. If required, I'll ask the nurse to administer some glucose for you." Dr Scott said to Jayne.
Before Jayne could speak, Ronnie spoke first, "Doctor, what did you just say? Blood donation? Weak? What exactly happened to my wife?"
