As soon as they reached Jayne's office, she got a call from the Production Department asking her to personally come down and certify the designs.
Jayne excused herself from Virat, "Virat, I'm so sorry. I need to make a quick visit to the Production Department. If you don't mind, could you please wait here. I'll be back soon."
Virat was more than willing to do anything to stay by her side. He nodded, "That's totally okay Mrs Jayne. I'll be here. You take your time."
Jayne came out and asked her a.s.sistant, Richa to bring Virat some tea or coffee, whichever he'd prefer along with some snacks.
Richa then delivered them to Virat and closed the door leaving Virat all alone in Jayne's huge office.
Virat examined that there was a photo frame on her table. He went around the table to Jayne's side and saw that it was a photo of Ronnie and her Wedding picture. The picture was taken in the church where the wedding took place. Jayne was in her peach coloured wedding gown while Ronnie was in his grey suit. They were seen happily posing to the camera as husband and wife.
'Perhaps only if I could've prevented this marriage from happening. Then, n.o.body not even G.o.d could separate my Maya from me.' Jealousy coiled in his stomach and tore through him as fury. His grip on the photo frame tightened so much that the gla.s.s began to crack slightly. Finally his rage overpowered him and he smashed the photo frame to the floor shattering it into pieces.
Realisation dawned on him suddenly on hearing the cracking sound. Luckily, n.o.body was around nor did anybody notice it. He quickly walked back to the couch and sat on it like nothing ever happened. He had beads if perspiration rolling down his forehead.
He opened the full length window next to him and let the flow of fresh air inside. He slowly started to relax. But his mind was still reeling under pressure thinking of their wedding.
His mind drifted to one of their dates during their university dates….
----------
It was Maya and Virat's final year at college. Their relations.h.i.+p had progressed and they'd go out on dates very often. It was a Sat.u.r.day. They finished their respective cla.s.ses and met at their regular hangout, the college cafeteria. Both were dressed in white tops with blue jeans and looked like a perfect couple.
Though they hadn't openly accepted their relations.h.i.+p, everybody envied their friends.h.i.+p. Maya was the most beautiful girl of their university and Virat was the most handsome boy. Their pair was one of the kinds which were meant to be together.
"So, what are we doing tomorrow Maya?" Virat asked her.
"Anything Virat! I've nothing on my mind. If we've nothing else, I'll be the happiest to sleep extra longer." Maya said with a playful smile
"No! No! I've already made plans. We're leaving at half past four. Be ready to sneak out of your dorm. I'll be waiting outside." Virat said with the same playful smile.
"Virat! You must be kidding me right? Half past four on a Sunday morning? Who one earth would wake up so early on a Sunday morning Virat?" Maya pouted.
'When will I get to kiss those pouty lips Maya! Ah!' Virat got distracted.
He snapped back, "Maya since tomorrow is a Sunday, let's go trekking? Let's head there to catch up with the early morning sunrise. Also on the way up, they prepare some amazing noodles, soups and other mouth-watering snacks as well. You can eat that! Who knows if we're lucky, we may even spot an animal or bird." Virat suggested to Maya.
"Woah! Woah! Woah! That sounds amazing of a plan Virat! But I ain't waking up so early Virat…." She tried to convince him.
"Maya, I promise you'll love it! It's decided. I'll pick you in the morning." He didn't give her an option to refuse and stood up to leave.
He handed her a chocolate before leaving, "Be a good girl sweetie. You won't be disappointed! Love you!" He held his hand out for her.
Maya didn't take his hand. She twisted her face and walked forward ahead of him.
"Maya! Baby, listen to me… If you don't want we'll not go." Virat suggested.
Maya had a sly smile on her face. She didn't want to hurt Virat. "Okay! We're going!" She turned around with a stern face and folded arms.
"Yay! Love you baby! Let's go then!" Virat wrapped his arms around her and they headed to their respective dorms.
-------
'Crazy girl! The next day was one of our most unforgettable moments Maya. I thought you'd never forget that. But then how ironic Maya, when you've forgotten me only, how would you still remember that day?' Virat once again went back to thinking of that day.
