Her thoughts broke off when Haruka stopped walking. "Haru--"

Lila glances up at the night sky and saw a gorgeous stary night sky.

Something extra? Lila turns to him, and she blushes when he takes something out from the corner. Oh, it's his guitar. Uhh...is he going to? "Um, wait Haruka, I told you it's too embarra.s.sing whenever you do that."

But he didn't listen. This is the second time she's seen such an earnest expression on his face, and yet, she still can't get used to it. A torrent of sounds, unlike anything she's ever heard before. It created such a beautiful light around him. The stars in the sky that were s.h.i.+ning brightly before seem to s.h.i.+ne even more now. They're connected. Haruka pulls her to his lap and sighs deeply.

Oops so much for not acting childish around him anymore. It is difficult to do that since she likes it when somebody spoils her. Haruka just told her he loved her, and also, she watched as he grabbed hold of her hand and dropped a light kiss on the back of it.

Lila looked away when she heard those words. "You do realize that I can't just ignore the current situation. I understand how you feel towards Zane, Haruka. But from my point of view, that man will continue to destroy everything precious to us. So what will his prize be? Me?" She shook her head. "Even if Zane gets his way, he will never be able to touch me."

That's right because her body is unusual. It rejects those with malicious intentions and only allows those with good intentions near her. A strange power that she cannot control, at first, she a.s.sumed it was a tease. But it seems like that is not the case here. If it were merely a disease, then it would not bother protecting those dear to her.

"No," Lila muttered. "Please, no. I don't want you to get hurt, Haruka." This entire time Lila held back her feelings on this. No matter what Haruka said or did. But hearing that he would die for her.

She won't allow it. Haruka is not like her; he can still pull away and lead a normal life. From the very start, he never concerned himself with matters regarding the hanyou world or underworld society. Unlike her, this person is still pure.

It is ironic for her to speak like that considering how their relations.h.i.+p started. At the start, Haruka said things like this; it was her husband who kept belittling himself. To think she would end up behaving the same way eventually. The world works mysteriously. But this is exactly the reason why people live, why they still fight.

Lila sighed and brushed their forehead against one another.

For a moment n.o.body spoke, but Lila noticed Haruka playing with her hands. He kept mumbling, loving words in her ear too. Ever since she met Haruka, she has felt happiness that she did not think was possible for somebody like her.

Back then, she genuinely believed that love was for people like her mother and not somebody like her. She did not think she could fall into a deep love.
