Chapter 33: Before the Magic Test
Author: Sakurakiri Kohaku (桜霧琥珀)
Okay, going to start and do my staple. The cheat sheet on the top, it will eventually grow to include new characters and appearances.
Fari von D’azell . Previously Nanjou Yukiho, nicknamed Yuki by Kami.
Is currently 10 years of age. Ruby red long wavy hair and striking gold eyes not fitting her age.
Kami-sama, or also known as Kamille. Is a girl that looks 12 but is a G.o.d. Has silver hair and red eyes.
Also Fari always uses, 私 aka female p.r.o.noun watas.h.i.+.
Father is Gilbert Von D’azell. Master warrior.
Rigurett Beuze Crausus: Long blond silky hair, blue eyes. Uses 2 bayonet guns, and is really good at magic, four attribute magic.
Translator: Mamuni
As Rigurett-san said before, the magical exam is in an indoor room.
It’s a large room that is dedicated to magic training, It’s built inside of the training area. In the back of the room, there is a countless number of targets and dummies.
These targets seem to be attached to a magical device that automatically regenerates a new target after one is broken.
This is definitely a high tech room. It must have cost a fortune.
For the exam, we simply shoot the targets with magic.
There is a one minute time limit. How many you can destroy equals your score.
You need to be able to handle strong magic and control it well. Along with keeping a momentum. It seems like a pretty difficult test.
By the way. Students with no magical apt.i.tude skip this test.
Because there is a risk of magical misfires and over casting. You go in alone.
Once you finish, you leave the room and the next candidate in waiting will then enter to take their test.
Also, there is no window. So it’s impossible to see into the room.
“Well then. It seems like it’s my turn now.”
Rigurett-san said that and entered the training room once her number was called. Her number was 306, so she is right at the end of partic.i.p.ants.
It was quiet for awhile.
Normally, you could hear the sounds of magic breaking targets.
I was contemplating why, when suddenly the door opened.
Rigurett-san came out and called me over.
What is happening? I curiously approached Rigurett-san.
“What happened?”
“We have a special case. You and I have gotten the approval to watch each other’s exam.”
“Eeeeeh!?”
W-Wait, what?
So apparently Rigurett-san was able to negotiate with the examiner before she took her test.
“But. Were you really able to get permission?”
“Yes. It was no trouble for me.”
“Oh yeah, Rigurett-san is a n.o.ble. . .”
As soon as I said that, she suddenly grabbed me by the collar, and pulled me towards her.
“I don’t remember telling you I was a n.o.ble. Why do you think I’m a n.o.ble?”
Uh.
I think I said something I shouldn’t have again. She was asking me with a slightly scary face.
“U-um, w-well. You knew about the D’azell family.”
“That shouldn’t be enough, knights and military officials could know that. Also there are plenty of other people that are familiar with the D’azell family, so the possibility of anybody knowing them is high. . .So why do you think I’m a n.o.ble? Is it because how I speak?”
(TN: She has been speaking politely the entire time, and also been referring to herself in a very polite manner.)
“Y-You also act very refined?”
“That could just depend on education. There are elegant knights, and vulgar n.o.bles.”
I-I don’t know what to say.
“. . .I’m not going to say anything about your secret. However you need to tell me what you know.”
I was at a loss of words when she said that.
. . .Oh, I was also angry with Kami-sama when she was keeping secrets from me. I can’t be hypocritical.
I don’t intend to keep secrets from Rigurett-san, who I really want to be friends with.
. . .But that may be stupid.
I can’t tell her everything.
I can’t just say I remembered my past life. and I was given super search by G.o.d.
. . .I don’t think it’s possible for me to say that.
I may need to tell a white lie.
Well not a lie, but it can’t be helped. I have to omit some stuff and only tell her a half truth.
Chapter 34: Suspect. Fari.
“. . .Actually. The truth is. I can use the spell called search.”
As I said that, Rigurett-san didn’t seem phased by it.
“I see. So you have an apt.i.tude for non-attribute magic?”
“Yes. And. . .I was just really curious about how strong you are. So I used searched on you.”
“Uh huh. And what does that have to do with?”
“Well. When I used search I saw Rigurett-san’s name.”
She was really surprised once she heard that.
“My name?. . . So Fari knows? For you to find out the full name of somebody you search, you must have a B rank or higher on the spell. So you are able to use it that well?”
“Eh!? Is that actually how it works!?”
“. . .You. . . Really don’t know much about yourself, do you?”
She gave a deep sigh.
“Well anyways. You know my name?”
“Yes.”
“And because you know about my house, you wanted to become my friend, right?”
“Huh?”
I don’t know what she is saying so I tilted my head at her.
“When you saw my name you realized I was a n.o.ble, right?”
“Yes. Because of how your name is structured, I thought you were a n.o.ble.”
“. . .So, does that mean you aren’t familiar with the name Crausus?”
“I-I’m sorry! I’m not familiar with many aristocrats, I don’t know a lot of them. Though I think I heard that name somewhere. . .”
As I continued to babble on. Rigurett-san suddenly burst into laughter.
“I’m so sorry Fari. I don’t know why I was suspicious of you.”
“Suspicious?”
“I thought because you knew about my house you just wanted to get close to me for that reason. I couldn’t shake that thought this whole time. I was however mistaken. I’m sorry for thinking that. . . I don’t think Fari is capable of doing something so dubious. I was completely mistaken. I’m sorry.”
For some reason. Rigurett-san seems really relieved.
I don’t really know what just happened, but I’m happy that this misunderstanding is dealt with.
Even so, Rigurett-san must come from a considerable powerful family if people want to get close to her just for her name alone.
Is she perhaps a duke’s daughter? If that was the case, why is she taking the last exam of the year?. . .
“Hey, Fari. What are you doing? The exam will start soon!”
“Ah, okay!”
She pulled me by the arm with a pleasant smile on her face.
Here is a two chapter combo. The one little chapter before this acts as the third. I guess. Next chapter is going to be the magic test. Also we got some backstory on Rigurett. What mighty house is she apart of? We’ll just have to wait and see. Next time. Also it probably won’t be answered the next chapter or a couple.
Next chapters in like 3-5 days. Yeah I didn’t cut my habit, but at least I can give myself wiggle room to rest.
Also thank you Talasin for the coffee and really nice comment. I really appreciate it. Glad you are enjoying these chapters.
