The light smile on his face concealed a lot. Yuxi had stood up when Tingting did and gave a deep bow.

The man's brows furrowed, "You don't need to go that low." Yuxi stood up and was face to face with the man, though he was looking down on her.

"Good evening sir." He nodded at the greeting.

"Bai Yuxi, right?"

'Oh, he must have checked me out.'

"Yes sir." He nodded again.

"Welcome to our beautiful home. This house is three years older than you, it is where," he turned to point at Qiangshen. "Where he grew up with his little sister. Sorry, she couldn't make it."

'Xing Jings.h.i.+, out of the country studying.' Yuxi said in her mind. "There's no problem." The response was filled with much sincerity.

"Have a sit," he motioned to the couch and Yuxi sat with ease. 'At least there's someone that is easy going. He looked way nicer than Tingting with the smile on his face.

"Butler Yang," Grandma Xing called. When he came rus.h.i.+ng forward she told him to go get the dining table set up.

After dinner, they were served deserts in the sitting room. Yuxi tried not to over feed, she ate little and it didn't impress the Grandma. She was unhappy that Yuxi was just like s.h.i.+ya. s.h.i.+ya was always picky even though she had a great mother In-law that loved to cook. Unlike Tingting that hated working. She was so lazy that all she did was sit at home all day, went out with her friends to grand occasions and shopped like a shopping freak. With a flick of her finger, she had the malls employees smiling. No one hated a customer whom loved to spend. They'd sing her praises for tip and she was blind enough.

"Are you filled?" Grandma Xing inquired.

"Yes," the woman smiled. Yuxi gave her the rea.s.surance that she'd be the best granddaughter In-law. And she planned on doting on her more.

A thought suddenly clicked in her mind. "I would also want you to meet Xing Zhaohao."

Jingze was in the middle of sipping his tea when he heard that and his head snapped towards his mother.

Tingting eyes bulged and she frowned hard. "What do you mean, mother?" Introducing this young lady to her father In-law means that there will be no room for disapproval and if the old man happens to take a liking to Yuxi... Then there was no way out.

"I really think it's too early... Why don't we give them more time?"

"No. All the time has been given already. More time will be to prepare for a grand occasion."

"Mom," Jingze muttered. "You should really give the kids more time."

Grandma Xing hesitated as she looked in between Yuxi and Qiangshen. "A month more then."

Tingting wished she could hit the woman. She was making the decision meant for her. She looked at the two young people in the room, no one said anything, Qiangshen didn't try on rejecting the idea but if the decision had been made by her(Tingting) he would have rejected it without a second thought. "A month... That's too small mom. This is a lifetime..."

"Then should I give them a year?" There was a sneer on the woman's face. Tingting pretended not to see it and nodded fervently.

"Yes, yes. That's enough!" At least by then her son would have gotten tired of Yuxi. He would have done away with her.

Jingze said nothing, his mother made almost every decision in their life. She had married Xiaocan for Rongbo and married Tingting for him. Only Jiayi had the right to choose, that's why she(Grandma Xing) was still ignoring the fact that Ru Songyan was still single.

He prayed silently that his mom will accept Tingting's condition.

"A year it is then," Grandma Xing declared. Tingting sighed.

Qiangshen and Yuxi had no expression on. Meanwhile Qiangshen pondered on what Yuxi was thinking. His grandma hadn't even met up with the Bai family and was so eager to take Yuxi to his grandpa. He wondered what the old woman had in mind.

"Are you a picky eater?" Jingze asked, after watching Yuxi for a while. She had taken four spoons only from her desert then dropped it. "Or is that the Butler's cooking isn't good enough?"

When the butler heard it, his back stiffened. He didn't know who Yuxi was, nor her family background but if she was to say one bad word about his cooking he might be asked to retire as he was in his late sixties already.

Yuxi was put on the spot as all eyes was on her. Waiting for her response.

"Yes. No, I mean no. There's nothing wrong with the food! It's just that I'm filled up..."

The Butler sighed and his shoulders dropped.

Grandma smiled just like Jingze.

Tingting rolled her eyes and was caught by Qiangshen, she immediately smiled.

'You don't need to pretend! Its obvious, your dislike for her is written all over your face.'

Qiangshen took a look at his watch. "It's late already..."

Tingting didn't allow him to finish. "My driver will take her home."

Grandma Xing was taken aback. "No way! Qiangshen is taking her back! What impression are you going to leave on her parents?"

"Like I care." Tingting mumbled. "It's been long Qiangshen came home, at least he should spend the night over..."

"Before that, he's taking her home." Grandma Xing declared.

The car drove off with Qiangshen on the steering and Yuxi by his side. She was looking out the window, and into the night. The road that led to the house was covered in green lush tree forest, there were pole of lights by the sides and with every pa.s.sing, it would highlight Yuxi's exquisite features in his side window. She had the back of her head facing him.

"Why didn't you refute?" His question registered in her brain as she turned to him.

"Did I need to?" She returned with a question.

He was unfazed. "It was meant to be an act, but if you allow her push more, then it would be for real."

She hesitated. "I didn't plan for any of these... You should have refuted if you don't want any of what is happening. You have a life outside, I don't. So its all up to you."

His eyes narrowed. "You should be able to make your decision..."

"I did already! I did when I accepted to act." She interrupted. She knew what the woman wanted, but pretended not to. The woman was smart and playing her card slowly but steady making sure not to be interrupted from any side.

In fact, she knew more about this family than they could imagine. This decision wasn't among her plan... But with this, she could achieve her goal.

They soon arrived at the main road, the road was almost empty. She took out her phone from her bag to look at the time. It was 21:58pm and series of missed calls from Xueyan and s.h.i.+huan. They must have been worried.

Sometimes later, they arrived in front of a big gate. He blew the horn and the two security guards woke up from their slumber. One of them strode forward and bent to look into the car.

"Yes,"

"Bai Yuxi, 52nd building."

The guard bent more as Qiangshen wound down the gla.s.s. He recognized Yuxi and turned to tell his second to pull the big gates open.

It was after Qiangshen drove past that his eyes suddenly widened. Wasn't that Shen Q? His three daughters would always fawn over him. Wow, what would he be doing here?

When the doorbell rang, s.h.i.+huan was the first to react. He pulled it open and was faced with a smiling Yuxi. "Why didn't you pick up?"

"I didn't know it was ringing."

Xueyan poked her head behind s.h.i.+huan and so did the parents. Yuxi pressed her lips tight together.

Qiangshen was right behind her, she spun around but there was no one behind her. Instead she saw him bent over the car window, what was he doing?

He stood straight, straightened his suit and spun around to a whole face of five.

His eyes widened and his mouth twisted. 'Why did he have to face them like this, for the first time?' He had only gone to bring Yuxi's bag. And now he was forced to deal with four curious gazes and one surprised one.

His throat bobbed. He took three long strides and was now standing beside Yuxi. Her back to the door and Qiangshen face to the door, he turned her so they'd be facing the four faces together.

"Who's this?" Mr Bai pushed his way out of the door. He didn't know his daughter had male friends in this city.

"Father he's..."

"How can you be so uncultured? Weren't you taught to greet your elders?" A frown marred the man's face.

"Father," Xueyan cams out and tried to pull him back in. He flung her hand away.

"Why is he standing like a statue? Are you deaf young man? How can you take a young lady out and bring her back by this time? Its so late! Don't you know she's a single lady? Do you want me to clap for you? Or thank you for bringing her back now? Do you know how worried we were?"

Qiangshen stood there like an unmoving rock. Worst thing is that he didn't know how to react!

Yuxi reached for his back and bent with him. She grinned, "Good evening dad."

The man ignored her and continued looking at the confused Qiangshen.
