Xueyan gave Qingran a warm bathe and took hers. They went out and her mother served them.

Yuxi was long done eating and was now busy with her laptop.

After their dinner, Xueyan tucked Qingran to bed and the little girl easily fell asleep. She was tired out, from playing at the park. And going around with her.

Xueyan took out the three doc.u.ments from their room's closet. By then Yuxi had kept the laptop away to charge.

"This is good. I'm so excited." Yuxi excitedly said. "Here's a pen," she pa.s.sed the pen to Xueyan.

With shaky hands Xueyan took it. She didn't know if it was from the excitement of signing the doc.u.ments that made her heart beat rapidly. Or fear.

She opened the first doc.u.ment, It was a model contract. She would remain with the company for ten years.

A full installment and would receive 250, 000 Yuan as payment every month.

The second doc.u.ment was a contract as an actress. The pay was 500, 000 Yuan monthly.

"Isn't this Xiujun's new historical drama?" Yuxi asked, with strained neck. "Will you be featured in it? Check, check your position. Quick."

Xueyan frowned. "This is too good to be true. More like a dream... Are we living in a dream?"

"If it is," Yuxi said. "I don't want to wake up from it."

"Oh really?" Xueyan had herself wondering. "I wonder if I wake up, maybe I'd be able to run from him."

With her intelligence, she already knew who her sister was referring to. Yuxi chuckled. "There's no running from him." She lay down and put her leg up against the wall. "I've seen him twice... He's very das.h.i.+ng."

"With a wife and son. He's the biggest scammer! How can he be so deceiving?"

"Hahaha," Yuxi chuckled again. "Are you perhaps jelly jelly?" Yuxi made scary fingers towards Xueyan.

Xueyan scowled. "I wish I was." And slapped Yuxi's hands away.

"I don't believe you." Yuxi smirked. "There will be lots of trouble for you to deal with, regarding that." Yuxi pointed at the doc.u.ments. "Sign them already."

"Yuxi, don't you think this is a little bit too much?"

"Not as much as mine. Oh, s.h.i.+huan had called today. They are doing good with the international team. They won the first game and preparing for the second." She sighed. "I told mom and dad, they were so happy. Have you told them about your contracts? How about little Xue?"

"You the only one for now." Xueyan contemplated before signing.

"Ten years, Xue. Ten years." Yuxi made it clear.

It started showering outside and soon became heavy.

At a mansion situated not too far from the city, Zhihao peeped outside his room. Everywhere was dead silent. The servants had all gone to bed. He looked toward s.h.i.+ya's room. The light was still turned on. While his father's was totally dark.

He closed his doors and went to the window, he touched gla.s.s... He never liked the rain. His little eyes looked up at the sky and back down to the ground.

Why does it rain?

Zhihao wasn't the only one awake in the middle of the night, but Zhaolin was too. He lay on the bed looking up at the ceiling. The rain fell pitter-patter on the roof covering. It was like every drop of the rain, hit him, he stopped staring at the ceiling and took out his phone. It would only make his blood pressure rise if he continued looked further. The more he looked, the more it felt like the ceiling would open, and the rain would swallow him.

There on the lock screen was the woman, a woman so close to him but far at heart. There was a big sincere smile on her face... She had never flashed one his way. With shaky thumb, he touched the screen. Her hair, her beautiful black eyes, her pointed nose, and her smile formed from those rose coloured lips.

And then he smiled. Soon he was able to fall asleep.

He never slept when it rained at night, even if he had been in a deep sleep and it started pouring, he'd wake up due to a terrible nightmare. Suffocation clogging his throat. Sweats trickling down his face. And his face aghast.

But with her rea.s.suring smile, he was able to close his eyes, even with the fear threatening to consume him. With his heartbeat irregular... He was able to close his eyes and within seconds fell asleep.

Monday morning, the rain had stopped and the sun s.h.i.+ning brightly.

They both arrived together at the company and the chairman was out to welcome Xueyan. Yuxi exited at her floor and flashed her sister a smile. Muttering a good luck to her.

Xueyan smiled and mumbled out a thank you.

When they got to the chairman's office, the man sent for the directors and producer of the historical drama.

Later she was introduced to the whole team.

Some liked her, while some pretended to.

Xueyan never wanted to be on the spotlight like this. Where all eyes watched her every move. Gossiped about her. This was it, finally, if she can build her army...then maybe, just maybe... She'd have enough power to find him. That rapist! That beast in human form! A devil incarnate.

His family had been able to cover the case neatly, there was no loophole. Not a single bit of his information. That night she had been drunk...and drugged. Her hands balled into fists. The chairman at the side noticed it, and the change in her expression, he smiled at her. "It's okay," after that said he took her to the side and asked. "Should I hire a manager for you? Or you have someone who can manage you?"

Xueyan thought for awhile. "I..."

Immediately, the door to the large room was pushed open. Xiujun looked left and right until he found her. He took large steps towards her.

Everyone bowed and greeted but he didn't seem to have heard them and walked straight to Xueyan.

Gasps escaped some people's mouth.

"Really, thank you so much."

'He thinks I'm here because he asked me? I'm sorry to disappoint him. I just needed this much power to find that scoundrel. And when she does, she'd be sure he doesn't get away from her.'

Xueyan smiled. "It's alright. I also agreed for my selfish reason."

Xiujun smiled, took her hand and kissed the back.

He turned to the manager. "Five days off for her to study her scripts." His voice rang through the room. It was loud enough that everyone else heard it and heads snapped to examine Xueyan closely.

This time the gasps was louder.

"I wonder who this lady is."

"Look at master Xiujun, he came rus.h.i.+ng back to the company the instant she arrived."

"And he had been missing for weeks."

"Do you think, she's from a very rich family?"

Xueyan saw inside the wall, was two long couches, a small drawer, refrigerator and a TV.

"Let's go in. No one would be able to disturb you... I study my scripts here, you can do the same." Xiujun said.

Xueyan was taken by surprise. Did company have hidden rooms too? Like the rich has in their homes?

The chairman arrived with his secretary, she was carrying some papers.

She bowed to Xiujun and pa.s.sed him some that was clipped together. And pa.s.sed the other to Xueyan.

Bai Xueyan thanked her and started going through it. In the drama, she would be a princess from a village, a warrior princess trained by her father.

Eventually their village was ambushed by another village.

"You like the storyline?" Xiujun interrupted. And Xueyan darted a look at him. "You don't have to worry. You'll be represented by a clone." He flashed her a smile.
