Grandma Feng was lying tranquilly on her bed while Mi Rong was wiping grandma Feng's face gently. It had been almost three weeks since grandma Feng was in a coma and she had not woken up yet.

Today just like any other day, Mi Rong had come up to take care of grandma Feng before Qing Qing would be done with her cla.s.s. Mi Rong made sure to check on all the medical bags, the ventilator and so on. Though the doctor had checked just a few moments ago, she wanted to make sure again.

When she was a.s.sured of everything, she came to sit down beside grandma Feng. Grandma Feng looked so peaceful as she lied in her bed. Mi Rong slipped her hand under grandma Feng's and held onto it gently. Sigh, grandma Feng ah, when will you wake up...it had been almost a month...

A knock came to the door and Qing Qing's adorable face peeked inside, "Jie!" The little girl called out.

Mi Rong turned to look at the newcomer and smiled, "So, you've finished your cla.s.s, hm?"

"Yes! I've sent the teacher off like you told me to and then I came up here." The little girl cheerfully reported what she had done.

Mi Rong nodded, "Do you want to sit on my lap and tell your great-grandma what you learned?"

"Alright," Qing Qing then hopped on Mi Rong's lap.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

Both of them accompanied grandma Feng even in her slumber. Though it was a shame that grandma Feng could not respond to them, but it did not stop them from showing their enthusiasm.

Night time

"Jie, when will papa come back?" Qing Qing asked as she was being tucked into bed by Mi Rong.

Mi Rong smiled gently and stroked the little girl's head, "Soon. He has something to take care of and then he'll be back."

Tonight the little girl seemed to not be sleepy and had many questions in her heart, "Jie, what do you think of my papa?" Qing Qing suddenly asked Mi Rong with her big innocent eyes.

Momentarily, Mi Rong's face was stiff and her hands halted for a brief moment, "Jun Kai?" Mi Rong blurted. She then continued to cover the little girl with th blanket.

"En. Jie, do you think you would come to like my papa one day?" Once again, Qing Qing still had her innocent eyes on and was staring at Mi Rong for an answer.

Which to Qing Qing's answer, Mi Rong tapped the little girl's nose with her index finger, "That, young lady, is not for you be concerned of."

"But jieeee," All of a sudden Qing Qing's eyes turned watery, and the little girl began sobbing, "I want...a mother like...other kids as well...can't you be my mother...for me?" The little girl could hardly speak with her sobbing sounds, but Qing Qing made sure she finished speaking. Today, she was learning about family and it seemed to her that her family was not complete. She knew little of the world yet she could feel the incompleteness.

Mi Rong sighed. She pulled the blanket up and went underneath the blanket beside Qing Qing, "Come here." Mi Rong opened her arms for the little girl to hug her.

Qing Qing scooched closer and hugged her jie. She began crying even more, but her sobs were all m.u.f.fled in Mi Rong's embrace.

There would be a time, Mi Rong thought, that Qing Qing would come to feel bad about what had happened but there will also be a time when she would come to accept it. Only by some guidance, Qing Qing might not fall into the traps of her own thoughts.

Mi Rong let Qing Qing cry till her heart's content until the little girl felt tired and sleepy did she stop. All the entire, Mi Rong had been soothing Qing Qing with warm pats and it seemed to have helped the little girl calm down more.

On the verge of falling asleep, Qing Qing muttered, "Jie, maybe for one day, just one day even I'd like you to be my mum." However, the little girl's wish as soft as the sound coming from a mice that Mi Rong could only catch the word mum before Qing Qing fell asleep.

For a while, Mi Rong could not get up. Qing Qing's questions were still lingering in her head.

'Do you think you would come to like my papa, one day?'

Like him? She never understood what would it be to like another person. Towards Jun Kai, was it not just like how she would treat her fellow confidants or a family member?

Mi Rong brushed those thoughts away. Alright, it was time to get up and wash herself. She went back to her room and took a long deserving shower. Then, she'd go read the last few chapters of the book and sleep. These days she found it hard to sleep but reading a book before bedtime made her sleep easier.

Across the city

Jun Kai was inspecting all the updates and reports from his men, but there was very little progress. He tiredly covered his eyes with his hands. He had not slept or slept properly for almost four days and it was starting to get a toll on him.

A couple of minutes later, he went back to reading the reports again. He had been doing this for the past four days; going out to search for his mother in the most likely places and then come back to read the reports from his men in other places. It took time, but he had no more time to lose.

Just as he was reaching for his last report, there was a small white envelope. Jun Kai's brows knitted slightly. There was no record of seeing a letter with any of his reports before. Nevertheless, he opened the letter up and was even more confused with the contents inside.

A bracelet and a folded letter.

Jun Kai pulled out the bracelet without thinking much, but when he had a closer look at the bracelet, his hand began to shake slightly. This, this was his mother's bracelet. It had their 'Ke' sign on it. The Ke group that he was leading now, was his mother's side of the family. He had inherited the Ke group by blood right and now his mother's bracelet was here.

He did not wait any longer and immediately unfolded the letter from the envelope. As he read the contents, his hand began to tremble even more than when he saw his mother's bracelet.
