I Deserve A Second Chance Chapter 103 - Addicted

When Shao Yan finished for the day, the sun had set for a little while. It was already dark blanketed all over her surrounding, wrapped her in a coc.o.o.n. The window blinds had been lifted during the day to give more sunlight to the people inside the room. The outside view would also lift up the spirit and the mood when they work.

On a night like this, when Shao Yan lifted her head and looked outside the window, she could see all the lights from the skysc.r.a.pers, dancing in the sky like fireflies in the deep abundant forest.

She looked at the time and realized that it was already late for dinner. Shao Yan quickly tidied up the papers on her desk. Her team had been working on new design for multiple book covers and the brochures were spread out all over their desks. She turned off the laptop and put all her stuff inside her purse. Slowly got up from the chair and switched off the desk lamp, Shao Yan then started to walk out.

When she finally arrived in the lobby downstairs, a pleasant surprise overwhelmed her to see Li Xiqing was waiting for her in the lobby. He was sitting on the sofa, seriously typing away on his laptop. He did not even realize that she was only steps away from him. The saying that 'men are the most charming while concentrating' was so true.

Her steps were halted as she stood still and just watched him; the way he was reading seriously on the screen, or how he would tilt his head slightly when he starts typing on the keyboard. When he would looked up slightly every now and then to check on the spellings; or when he pause to think and just stare at the plastic keys for few seconds.

Every single movement was so adorable in her eyes.

Shao Yan slowly walked over and then she lifted her fingers to lightly tap on his shoulder. Li Xiqing stopped typing and looked up, to find her tender face was looking down at him. Her eyes were glittering like the starry sky, her red lips were slightly curved up and graced him with a tender smile.

Two apple cheeks greeted his sight, and he unconsciously returned her smile. His eyes turned warm, and he closed his laptop immediately. Li Xiqing reached out his hand, and she lifted her hand and placed it on top of his open palm.

His palm reflexively held on her hand gently and gently tugged her closer. "How long have you been waiting?" She asked while his hand guiding her to sit next to him. Li Xiqing let go off his hold when she sat down. He patiently tidied up his laptop to put it back into his bag.

"I met Martin for coffee just now and we talked for a bit about work. And then after we were done, I was about to go back to the office." He scanned her face, taking in her expression and her mood.

"But then I checked the time and saw that your office was about to be done for the day, so I decided to wait. I also need to work on some emails."

Once he was done, he lifted his hand and his palm tenderly rubbed her hair, "I took a cab here to meet Martin, and the weather is actually very nice outside. How about, we walk home?"

His other hand grabbed hold of her hand again and linked their fingers. "Are you tired? If you are, then I'll drive and let's just go home. If you are not, let's walk instead and we can find something to eat along the way."

With his eyes locked into hers, he slowly lifted their linked hands to his lips and kissed the back of her hand, "What do you say?"

Shao Yan had been looking attentively on each of his actions. Her eyes were glued to their linked fingers and then when his lips touched her hand, her eyes grew warm, and her cheek gradually warmed up. She could not let go off her sight at his lips that are still lingering on her skin.

She unconsciously nodded her head yes, "I'm not tired. A night walk sounds like a good idea." She tilted her head to the side, her hair softly fell on her shoulder and cheekbone. The luscious hair framed her pet.i.te face perfectly, giving a softer feature to her already stunning face.

"Actually, I was just thinking that the weather outside must be really nice; cool and breezy." Unconsciously, she tightened the hold of their linked hands and then said, "Let's go! From here to my apartment should be only around forty five minutes walk," she beamed at him.

Li Xiqing could not help but to lift his fingers to swipe the hair on her cheek. He curled his fingers and tucked the naughty strands behind her ear; his knuckles brushed her cheek and his fingers were addicted to the softness of her skin.

"Okay, let's go now?" his gentle words felt like a tender summer and brought her warmth in this cool season. She nodded her head and started to get up from her seat.

They were about to walk out of the lobby area, when Shao Yan saw a familiar figure had just stepped out of the elevator. Risa was carrying her laptop briefcase on one hand, and on the other hand, her slender hand was holding onto her mobile phone and she was scrolling up on the phone screen.

All of a sudden, Risa could feel that someone is staring at her. Without halting her dainty steps, she lifted up her face to look around. And when she did, her eyes were directly set at Shao Yan.

Shao Yan was startled at the sudden eye contact, and reflexively she tightened her hold on her hands. Li Xiqing had just stood up and was about to walk out. He felt the change in the pressure of their linked fingers, so he turned his head around to check on the face of his beloved. When he saw her stunned face, he wanted to ask her what was wrong. But then, he also saw that her eyes were fixed on somewhere else.

He slowly turned his face around and saw a woman was walking towards their direction.
