I Deserve A Second Chance Chapter 17 - Deep Blue Sea

Mr. w.a.n.g is a forty year old, short skinny man, with hair swiped to the left, gentle face and wore rimless gla.s.ses.

For those who just saw him for the first time, would think that he was a teacher. The super kind teacher.

He always dressed so formally. In the cold season, it would be long sleeves s.h.i.+rt, vest and dress pants. In the summer it would be short sleeves s.h.i.+rt and dress pants.

That's all.

But as the old saying stated, don't judge the book by its cover.

Mr. w.a.n.g was nowhere near the kind teacher type. He was an avid sales person. Super tenacious.

When Shao Yan first met him in city N, her first impression of Mr. w.a.n.g was a very warm person, because he always smiled. But after Shao Yan worked with him in the past two years, she realized that Mr. w.a.n.g was not warm at all! She was cheated!

Shao Yan overslept after the call with Qi Ling, so she couldn't go to the farmers market anymore. She moved her plans around and decided to do laundry first and then she would go to grocery store before dinner time.

She was vacuuming the house while waiting for her laundry when she received his call.

"Shao Yan, Miss author 'Deep Blue Sea' refused to go to the signing party next week".

No hi, no roundabout. Mr. w.a.n.g went straight to the point, as usual.

'Deep Blue Sea' was a pen-name of the currently best selling novel series that rocked the magic pugilistic world. She told a story about a baby that was destined to combine the dark and light but no one knows if the baby was a boy or a girl.

The demon king would turned the world upside down to look for it. There were seven main characters in the novel and even until book four, no one knows yet which from the seven characters was actually the main one.

Gold Crane had scheduled a meetup with her readers and also a signing party next week at city Q. 'Deep Blue Sea' refused to attend because there was a protest going on right now at city Q about clean water movement.

City Q was a port city and some young people thought that they should be the pioneer of environmental change for the next generation. And so they decided to 'educate' the ma.s.s about clean water.

And 'Deep Blue Sea' was worried about her safety.

However, after much persuasion from Mr. w.a.n.g, she finally agreed to go, under condition that a representative from Gold Crane had to accompany her.

Usually, Gold Crane would arrange a local representative from the event location. If it was to be held at a shopping mall, then the representative would be from the mall corporate company.

But 'Deep Blue Sea' now demanded that Gold Crane had to also send their representative to accompany her.

And that's why Mr. w.a.n.g called her. He wanted Shao Yan to go to city Q tomorrow to meet Miss 'Deep Blue Sea'.

Shao Yan did not have any valid reason to refuse to go. So she could only half-heartedly agreed.

"We contracted Uncle Yang as your driver as usual. Once you have booked your ticket, text him your flight schedule so he can pick you up." Mr. w.a.n.g said that before he hung up the call.

3 minutes and 14 seconds long.

That's all Mr. w.a.n.g needed to take to convince Shao Yan to go on a last minute trip.

Shao Yan had no mood to clean the house anymore. She opened her laptop and checked her email. Mr. w.a.n.g had sent her the rundown schedule for Miss 'Deep Blue Sea' and Shao Yan was supposed to match her schedule.

Shao Yan quickly booked her ticket and texted Uncle Yang. She received his reply right away confirming the pick up plan.

Shao Yan started to pack up her luggage. When she was done, she gave a pa.s.sdown list for her team to take action on while she was away. And finally, she texted Qi Ling about her trip.

When Shao Yan had settled everything, it was already dark. She boiled two eggs and while waiting for her eggs, she tidied up her laundry.

Before she went to bed, she decided to just watch some news while eating her boiled eggs.

Her flight was in the morning around 7 so she could arrive there around 10. Shao Yan planned to go to Miss Sea's hotel right away.

The first event was scheduled to be after lunch.

So Shao Yan was planning to go through the day schedule with Miss Sea at lunch time before leaving for the event.

When Shao Yan arrived in the hotel, she asked the receptionist to notify Miss Sea about her arrival. Miss Sea asked her to come up to her room.

She rang the door and she could hear hurried steps coming towards her.

"Who are you?", a tall woman with wavy hair, her perfume smelled so exquisite, currently was frowning at Shao Yan after she opened the door.

Shao Yan had only met her once before. Mr. w.a.n.g had been the main contact person for this author. When Shao Yan notified the front desk just now, she only identified herself as "Gold Crane representative'.

Shao Yan was dumbfounded, "Miss 'Deep Blue Sea', h.e.l.lo, my name is Shao Yan, with Gold Crane." and she handed her name card.

Miss Sea seemed to realized what had happened, she was upset but she still let Shao Yan into the room first.

Shao Yan also saw another person was already in the room, Miss Sea's manager.

Miss Sea pa.s.sed Shao Yan's card to her manager, "I didn't ask you to come. Who I asked for was Mr. w.a.n.g." Miss Sea took out a cigarette and went to the balcony to start smoking.

Her manager just smiled embarra.s.singly at Shao Yan. Her manager then drew a 'lightning' sign on her chest when she was facing Shao Yan, and then mouthed 'heartbroken' to Shao Yan.

Shao Yan could more or less guessed what's going on.
