Shao Yan raised her eyebrows slightly, but she tried to keep her face calm. Shao Yan was not sure why this cat had all its fur stood up now.

Ever since she and Li Xiqing got together, Shao Yan would sometimes b.u.mped into Cissy in the office. But all was calm. Both of them would pretend nothing was awkward. Cissy would still smile politely, and Shao Yan would just nodded, but they never really talked to each other.

This would be their first conversation after that notorious 'confession' in the meeting room during AG International introduction session.

"Thank you. I hope you're enjoying it so far", Shao Yan smiled brightly.

Shao Yan purposely spoke in double meaning. Enjoyed the party? Or enjoyed watching her dating life?

Pfft.

She felt a little better when she saw Cissy curved lips was showing a stiff smile.

Cissy actually looked so elegant today. She had put on champagne color silk Qipao, which elegantly hugged her whole figure. The Qipao highlighted all the right curves on her body. Beads of Swarovski crystals on her collar, and down from neckline to the waist, brought out the beauty of her skin and her face. In this kind of room decoration, it felt like time had stopped for her. She looked ethereal.

From her face itself, Cissy was prettier than Shao Yan. Honestly, Shao Yan couldn't figure out why Li Xiqing did not even look at this pretty woman, and instead chose her.

They were chatting amicably, when both women saw Li Xiqing walked over with two gla.s.ses of white wine.

Li Xiqing saw the two women were looking at him. He glanced at Cissy and then back to Shao Yan. He was scrutinizing her expression. But she had poker face on, so he couldn't read anything.

He then looked down at her plate. Ok good, she finished all of her food. He saw the dessert that she liked was available on the dessert table just now. He would bring her there after this.

When Li Xiqing stood in front of them, he pa.s.sed one gla.s.s to Shao Yan, and kept the other gla.s.s for himself. And then he took away the plate from her hand and said, "Just drink a little first, alright, since your stomach is still empty. Let's get more food after this."

Cissy raised her eyebrows. This man did not even bother to pretend to be a gentleman and pa.s.sed her a drink??

"Do you want to look at the dessert table now?" Li Xiqing spoke gently to her.

Shao Yan sipped her white wine a little. The cold liquid entered her mouth, she tasted slight sweetness and tanginess from it. So refres.h.i.+ng.

She was contemplating for a while. She surprised him by slipping her arm onto the crook of his arm and then leaned on him intimately, "No, let's look at appetizers again," and then she cheekily stick out her tongue, "I'm still hungry."

Li Xiqing rubbed her hair, and smiled back at her. He patted her arm and then peeled off her hand, but that's because he wanted to hold her waist. His fingers lightly caressed her skin on the back.

Shao Yan looked back at Cissy, "My apologies, let me go grab some food first; or he won't stop nagging me." Shao Yan gave a polite smile and then walked away.

Nope, she believed that she was not a jealous person. Yup, she's definitely not!

She was betrayed once and she was too stupid to not do anything before. But now, as long as this man was still showing his interest in her, she was determined to protect this happiness.

Her happiness.

The couple went to hunt for few different food. Along the way, they would stop and talk to some people. Other times, they would silently flirt with each other. He would whispered in her ears, kept her close by hugging her waist. He was telling her about some things about people that he learned when he was in Gold Crane.

Shao Yan leaned on him, touched him here and there, while she was listening nosily. She never thought that executives had so many stories to tell!

Shao Yan knew that Martin and Karl would be here tonight, so she told him that he should mingled and talked to the others too. Shao Yan wanted to talk to her friends as well.

Li Xiqing agreed half-heartedly, but he wanted Shao Yan to also enjoy the night.

Shao Yan walked around, while inspecting the items that her team might have missed. Along the way, she would nibbled on the snacks that she thought was cute.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! We will start our celebration in thirty minutes. The door is open now, you are welcome to your seat."

Shao Yan heard the announcement. But before she went to find her table, she decided to go to the ladies room first.

She just entered the ladies room, and was about to do her business, when she heard chatter outside the cubicles. Three women just came in to the ladies room.

"So do you think she was with him for the money?" one girl asked the others.

Another giggled was heard, "He's so handsome tonight!!"

"Of course lah! She was single for two years. And then suddenly this amazing guy came in the picture. He's so handsome and so rich! Who doesn't want to be with him?!" another girl answered.

"Actually~ I thought she liked women. Single for two years, but no scandal with men whatsoever. If not liking girls, then I didn't know what else to think."

And then the three of them giggled.

Shao Yan just ignored them and just went on with her business. When she was done, and before she flushed the toilet, she heard them talking again.

"Then, do you think she got this anniversary project because Daniel asked President Huang on her behalf?"

Another girl chimed in, "She's only been here for two years. What capabilities she had to get this on her own?" And then she slightly lowered down her voice, "I'm pretty sure it's the pillow talk that worked the magic. Right? Right?"

And then the three of them giggled again.

Now, Shao Yan understood. So the 'girl' and the 'guy' in this story were actually her and Li Xiqing?

Shao Yan sighed.

This was what they called, even when sleeping, also got hit by a bus.

Shao Yan tidied herself, flushed the toilet and then came out.

There were only two women, as the other one was inside the cubicle.

The two women saw Shao Yan and they were shocked. They froze and showed a guilty face. They elbowed each other, not knowing what to do.

"H..h.e.l.lo Senior" one of the girls greeted her.

Shao Yan just calmly replied, "En", and washed her hand. Not looking at them.
