Aloof CEO's; Charming Secretary 317 I Will Not Live Forever

"Sir, Do you think you still have a chance?" Ryan asked Arlo who was speeding on the road unnecessarily.

Arlo didn't talk until he stopped at a traffic signal. "Sky has many people around her, one more added. That's it. Why are you worried?"

Ryan couldn't understand what he was thinking by his unemotional voice. He thought for a while and spoke, "I think, you should let her know you are the Arlo Smith, President of Sigma."

Arlo didn't respond to him. Ryan knew the answer too. He just sighed and hoped that everything goes well.

In the Limousine

"Hmmm, I didn't expect my daughter to gave accept his request."

Sky rolled her eyes and sat quietly as she also knew her father was smart enough to know she didn't really accept it.

"Are you interested in him? Perhaps you can date him. I will not object." David said playfully to tease her.

Sky looked at her father and blinked a few times, "If anybody else hara.s.ses you other than me, inform me. Am I clear?"

"So should I let you hara.s.s me?" David couldn't understand her theory.

Sky nodded innocently. David realized the topic averted, "Hey, you didn't answer my question."

"Dad, Don't even think about sending me to another family. I already left there and came here. I am not going to leave you." Sky clung on to David.

David freed his hand and let her keep her head on his lap after giving her little more s.p.a.ce for her, "Then are you going to stay single?"

"Dad! is it really difficult to stay single? Why do you all say that?" Sky responded back with a question to know his views.

David remembered how he was living for twenty-five years. He sighed, "It is not impossible. But I don't want you to live like how I lived for most of my years."

"Huh?" Sky didn't really understand him.

"After I left you with George, I had n.o.body with me. I practically used to work all the time. I hardly went home and stayed in the office all the time."

"Why?" Sky asked.

David didn't answer her instead he asked his own question, "When you moved to the capital, you used to go to your flat and sleep for little time before going back to work, why?"

"Because I have to take care of myself so that Brother Jai and others shouldn't worry about me." Sky replied promptly.

"Exactly. But I had n.o.body to worry about me."

Sky felt a lump forming in her throat and her eyes filled up as she spoke, "Then why didn't you bring me back?"

She never could forget how she lived when she came to the capital. At least she knew that the Barton family was there for her but his father didn't have anybody.

By her voice, David got to know she was very emotional hearing it. He sighed, "If I brought you back, would you have your Brother Jai and Loran?"

"Oh yeah!" She noticed the bitterness in his tone and changed the attention, "You should have brought them with me."

David's lips twitched. "What's wrong with your brain? Why will George send his children?"

"You should have asked Dad and Mom to come." Sky knew she was asking senseless questions so that David won't feel bad.

David shook his head resignedly, "Practically speaking, I will not live forever. Your brothers will settle down and they can't be with you all the time like how they are now. So at one point in time, you will be alone and start feeling lonely. So having one by your side gives you moral support too."

Sky hummed, "Dad, you can be a counselor you know. You almost convinced me."

David's lips twitched hearing 'almost'. Sky continued, "Let's say I get married to somebody, then I have to leave you all and go to somebody's house. I have to ask him and his family's permission for everything. I will have no freedom. He may control me, he may restrict me, trust issues. Holy! It will be such a big headache."

"What if you fall in love?" David asked in another way.

Sky chuckled hearing 'fall in love', "For that, I have to meet new people and talk to them. I don't have time for that."

"You met President Lan today. Isn't he good?" David brought up the topic again.

"He appears in magazines, newspapers and everywhere more than any celebrity or President of our country. He just met me out of his curiosity. I don't think he will contact me again. By the way, is he mixed blood child?" Sky asked as she never cared to check about anybody.

David nodded, "His mother is from country Y and that does not answer my question."

"Dad!" Sky thought she was obvious with her answer. "Okay! Look, he is good looking, in fact very handsome. But Brother Jai looks better than him." She stuck her tongue out as that's what she felt even though the whole country said Kris Lan as 'Nation's husband'

"He is smart. He looks sensible. But I didn't feel anything special for him. He is way too smart and sorted." Sky gave her a.n.a.lysis.

David understood her, "What if you like him if you meet him often?"

"Here you go again. I don't like him. If I can't even walk on the road with him, what's the need to be with him? No more questions about him... I'm sleeping... All my brain cells are dead today."

David chuckled and patted on the head lightly till they reached home. He had less hope on Arlo and he felt like she wouldn't like anybody else. Now the only option left for him was to talk to Jai to convince Sky.

The next day

Sky, as usual, went to the office and continued her work. PR department requested to keep her Fanclub profile as it also helped to gain more fame. Sky ordered to monitor the group closely. Stock rates have increased hence the pressure wasn't there on Andy.

After the meeting, She got to know about the admin of the Fanclub from Sam and she linked them to the PR department to manage the page.

Since her other works delayed, she was doing it when Arlo entered her room. Sky thought it was to ask about a food order. "Order something spicy."

Arlo pondered. Seeing him standing at the same place, Sky asked, "What is it?"

"Can I cook lunch for you?" Arlo asked directly.

Sky paused and thought about Kris saying that he cooks for her. "Why?"

"Ms.Sky, even though we order from a good restaurant, it is still an outside food. I know to cook, I can do it." Arlo tried to be reasonable.

Sky mulled over, "No! It will take up working time."

"I will not let it affect the work."

Sky rubbed her temples. she didn't want to be rude to him. "Arlo!"

"Yes! Ms.Sky" 

"You aren't planning to harm me right?" She couldn't understand why he would cook for her.
