Hidden Hallows 127 Who's The Real Monster?

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CHAPTER HAS VIOLENCE AND DEATH THAT OTHERS MAY FIND DISTURBING. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I look down at his hope-filled eyes with conflicted feelings. Do I save him? Do I want to? Wasn't this what I wanted? I slowly look back up to see Enzo watching me with a knowing smile. Didn't I just say that I would become a monster to kill him?

Yet, when I look at Enzo... Who's really the monster here? "Eris!! Please!! Have mercy on me!! I know I don't deserve it but I was blinded. I was foolish...Ahhhhh!!!" I look down to see another zombie-like creature grabbing him from the other side.

The fact that they can only drag themselves around on the ground makes it ten times creepier. They move so slowly... painfully slow. He tries to kick off the zombie on his leg as he continues to hold onto mine and beg.

He cries in desperation and says "I'll do anything! I'm sorry!! I'm sorry, Eris!!" I grit my teeth as tears build in my eyes again but for entirely different reasons. This is so f.u.c.ked up... on so many different levels.

I slowly look back up to Enzo to see him still watching me with a knowing smile. He knows exactly what he's doing! Tristan's screams out as the first zombie bites into him, instantly making me flinch. Enzo keeps his eyes locked on mine as Tristan's pleads become even more desperate.

My heart feels like it's about to beat out of my chest as Tristan's nails bite into my leg. When images of my mother dying in my arms come back to mind, I grit my teeth and stand my ground. This b.a.s.t.a.r.d deserves to die... right?

"ERIS!! PLEASE!!!" Tristan screams as he holds onto my leg for dear life but I refuse to look back down. I can hear flesh being torn as they bite into him but I keep my eyes locked on Enzo. His screams take on a new pitch as the zombies begin eating him alive but I continue to stand there, ignoring his screams for help.

When I feel his blood soaking my pants, I force myself not to look down. Enzo's smile fades but the look he gives me is one I've never seen before and one I don't quite understand. My eyes continue to burn as Tristan's grip loosens.

Tristan gets pulled until his back is fully on the ground but the zombie-like creatures don't stop. They continue to eat him as his hand reaches out and grabs my foot. He gasps for air as he struggles to beg "Please... please..." When I hear a loud crunch, his breathing stops.

I slowly look up to the ceiling and close my eyes, tears falling all the way down to my chin. When I finally look back down, I see Tristan's eyes... wide open and staring straight at me but he's no longer alive. The several zombie-like creatures continue to slowly devour him as I watch with mixed emotions.

Didn't I say I wanted to kill him in the slowest, most painful way? Wasn't this it? Then why am I feeling this way? When I slowly look back up, Enzo continues to watch me with a knowing look as he says "Isn't this what you wanted? I gave you that and plan to give you so much more."

As he steps closer, he steps on Tristan's corpse like he was stepping on a pile of trash and not a body. He lifts a hand and gently wipes a tear away as he says "This is just the beginning, love. I have plans for this world and when I'm done, you will rule at my side with all those you love."

I feel another tear fall as my soul literally trembles in his presence. He's pure evil. His dark eyes stare into mine like he can see my very soul and says "Watch me rebuild this world for you. I will give you everything your heart desires and so much more. For I can see what you truly desire... even the darkest, most hidden desires. I can see them all..."

Suddenly, he's gone. The magic holding me in place disappears, causing me to stumble back and fall. I land on my a.s.s and look over to see Tristan's blank eyes still staring at me as the zombie creatures continue to eat him.

Tears freely fall down my face as I try to control my emotions but it's too much. I clench my teeth and yell "BURN!" Tristan and the zombies go up in flames as I cry. I crawl to my knees and try to stand but my legs refuse to work.

I scream! I scream so loud and with so much emotion that all the windows on the church burst! I want it all to burn!! The entire unholy church soon goes up in flames as I hold myself. I hold myself as I cry and fall apart.

Like holding myself will somehow hold me together but it doesn't. I cry and scream but nothing helps the emotions threatening to drown me. Lightning hits the church, causing the ceiling above me to crash down.

The storm outside rages like the one inside me does but I still can't find comfort. When the church starts crumbling around me, I look up at the raging storm and scream "WHY!? WHHHYYY!!!?" But no one answers.

Who was I expecting to answer? I slowly calm myself down and watch as the flames around me start dying down as well. I stumble to my feet, feeling empty and ashamed as I slowly walk out of the remaining burning pile.

Waiting for me in the rain, is Kian. His red eyes glow in the rain as I come to a stop. His eyes and face give nothing away as we stare at each other in silence but I know... I know he knows. We're connected in a way I'll never understand.

I feel new tears coming to my eyes as my chin trembles. I whisper "He's here..." Kian's before me and wrapping me in a hug before I can say anything else. Suddenly, the storm I felt raging inside of me calms. I close my eyes and lean into him, taking comfort in his strength as my whole world falls apart.

He holds me close and whispers "I've got you. I've got you..."
